News and adventures

  • I wrote a review for the Critical Flame. You can read it here, if you’re into that sort of thing. It’s run by poet, rascal, and all around good guy Dan Pritchard and his tremendous friends and associates.
  • The review is of Ben Mazer’s verse play, A City of Angels. It’s a strange literary fish, the verse play, even stranger coming in a run of 100 copies.
  • I was proud this morning to select the first of 23 random Atlanta strangers to receive their $500 and begin their Young Never Sleep Project project, which Dominick Brady blogged about just in time for me to get in on last week. Happily, I have no idea who these other people are. Nor am I 100% sure what I’ve gotten myself into.
  • This weekend was a great time at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS, where I met and heard some amazing musicians, the great guitar players Beppe Gambetta, Tommy Emmanuel, Dan Crary, Stephan Bennett, as well as the band Notorious in duo form, and magnificent folk legends like Tom Chapin, Bryan Bowers, and John McCutcheon. Had my first Hobo Eggs, which made everything perfect, in spite of John’s last set being rained continuous lightninged out. All the performers were charming and on form.
  • A TSA guy walked up to me at the airport and gave me a 40th Anniversary Winfield guitar pick he found after seeing me with instrument cases.
  • It’s a really nice pick.
  • Our music video has not taken over the internet yet.
  • Ailbhe’s book is very good.
  • I’m kind of into poetrybyemilydickinson.com and internetpoetry.tumblr.com and Steve Roggenbuck’s new ebook
  • While I was out of town, my office fax machine received and printed a fax all by itself.

Yeah that probably covers it for now.
